The pomegranate fruit is sweet and sour taste, the native of Iran and northern India. There are many stories and legends about this fruit, and it was said that Helen of Troy used grenades help make it even more beautiful. These stories all have some truth behind them, because the pomegranate is one of the healthiest fruits on the planet. Here are some key benefits you get from eating pomegranates:

Has a high level of antioxidants (10,500 on the ORAC assay)
Is rich in vitamin C, E and folic acid
Reduces plaque in the arteries and increases good cholesterol
Prevents cartilage damage enzyme
Fight cancer cells
It slows down aging
All these sound great, Well, take a look at how the Acai Berry

Middle Corner with the purple trunks, We Have The Acai Berry!

In a very narrow decision that I have to give the victory of the Acai Berry. What matters is that Acai has a higher number of antioxidants (18,400 against 10,500). Many of the benefits of these fruits for their antioxidant capacity, so that category colon cleanse hands. The energy boost is very useful for almost everybody, so that more help to make well-rounded SUPER FOOD. There are various theories for the Colon Cleanse . It was used by the Egyptians centuries ago. Of course, the method by which we are today was different. The question now is the colon was very important, even in antiquity. There’s nothing new about the colon cleansing, but only the methods and procedures have changed.

In fact, it is advantageous for the modern man than for the ancient Egyptians. A high intake of iron and fatty food is bad for our digestion. Inactivity promotes digestion slows. Gradually keeps our digestive function and we suddenly find that something must be done.

Intestinal cleansing is described as the most effective solution for all conditions to the digestion. It is true that a large part of a clean colon ensures overall good health. However, some things need to note before you colon detox hold.

The Red Wine Pill Research

7 December 2009 | No Comments »

Did you know that there is a very big difference between the French people and people from the rest of the world? The difference is in their diets, which is characterized by high fat, and a lot of calories. Shockingly, if anyone from another part of the world takes the same diet for a year or less, they can be obese or have various life threatening diseases. It is not the genetic make-up of the French that is different but another constituent of their diet – wine, red wine in particular.

It is because of this that researchers tried to demystify what they referred to as the “French Paradox”, and are still doing so. Harvard School Of Medicine, with Dr. David Sinclair as the pilot, has been in the forefront of researching to come up with a practical backing of the compound found in red wine known as resveratrol. A research was carried on middle-aged rodents which were fed with fat-rich diets. The rodents were divided into two groups where one group was given the compound and another was not. Both groups showed signs of diabetes, but the one that was given resveratrol survived. This showed that the rodents could overindulge in meals and not experience negative results later on.

At The Institute of Molecular Biology in France, Dr. Johan Auwerx led his team of researchers to establish the effects of resveratrol an anti aging supplement on energy supply levels. Dr. Auwerx showed that a rat under normal circumstances can jog for a kilometer when on a treadmill but once fed with resveratrol, they doubled and had a slowed heart rate, the same way a trained sportsperson does. It is therefore right to say that a red wine pill will help you look like a trained and experienced sportsperson, without having to train at all. The red wine pill will help one gain the advantages of red wine without any alcohol or calories.

Resveratrol – An Anti-Aging Miracle?

7 December 2009 | No Comments »

Tremendous interest and excitement has surfaced during the past few years about the so-called “Red Wine Miracle”, or the “French Paradox”. It came about when scientists deduced that the French, who eat the same high-cholesterol diet most of us do, and who smoke heavily, suffer many fewer heart attacks than North Americans do.

It turns out that an ingredient in red wine helps protect the heart. The substance, of course, is Resveratrol.

Then, when studies at Harvard and Johns Hopkins showed that Resveratrol greatly prolonged the lifespan of various organisms, including mice, which are surprisingly similar to humans in many ways, the excitement grew.

Further investigation indicates that the benefits of Resveratrol include:

  • Anti-aging effects by activating a “longevity gene”
  • Weight loss effects
  • Fighting cancer initiation and progression
  • Antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties
  • Lowering LDL cholesterol
  • Reducing blood “stickiness”
  • Protecting against heart attack and stroke
  • Protecting the brain from free-radical damage
  • Protecting against neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinsons and Alzheimers
  • Protecting against Huntington’s Disease
  • Reducing the incidence of skin cancer and rejuvenating aging skin and connective tissue
  • Increasing exercise capacity
  • Preventing type 2 diabetes
  • Preventing osteoporosis

Predictably, drug companies, and physicians, and plain old marketers, seeing an opportunity, jumped on the bandwagon, and there are now dozens, if not hundreds, of Resveratrol-containing products in the marketplace. Some say that it is premature to be encouraging people to take Resveratrol, because there have been no long-term studies on humans. All the definitive research so far has been done in the lab.

Others say that Resveratrol is a naturally-occurring substance that people have been ingesting for thousands of years, that the benefits in mice and other organisms are very clear, and that it’s reasonable to assume that Resveratrol will be beneficial to humans, and very unlikely to be harmful. Why wait years for scientific corroboration of something that seems so intuitively logical?

Below, are more details about some of the presumed benefits to be obtained by supplementing your diet with Resveratrol, along with the risks, not that we think there are many, and side effects.

Resveratrol as Anti-aging Agent:< Resveratrol is a potent antioxidant that may activate and trigger a cell’s survival mechanism through a defense enzyme that prolongs the time cells have to repair their broken DNA and helps block free radicals that age your heart, brain, and joints. It may be more effective protection than other well-known antioxidants, such as vitamins C and E. The most notable study is one done at Harvard Medical School, and published in the journal “Nature”, probably the most prestigious scientific journal, which showed among other things, that mice given Resveratrol lived 40% longer. The mice were eating a high-fat diet, and though they did get fat, they stayed healthy, and didn’t develop heart disease or diabetes normally associated with that kind of diet.

Another highly-regarded study found that mice, already middle aged, given Resveratrol, lived about 15% longer than other mice receiving the same diet without Resveratrol. In addition, the Resveratrol-supplemented mice lived more active lives, and had much better motor function and endurance.

Resveratrol as Weight Loss Agent: According to one University study, “Antioxidants may trigger receptors in your upper intestine that tell your brain you’re full.” In this study, animals fed Resveratrol decreased their food intake by about 8%. Other studies have shown that Resveratrol helps to regulate insulin production, which decreases fat storage. It also acts as an estrogen blocker, which increases muscle and decreases fat. Resveratrol also increases endurance, allowing for extended exercise sessions, therefore more calorie-burning. Another study showed that Resveratrol inhibited “pre-fat” cells from converting into mature fat cells.

Resveratrol and Cardiovascular Health: Resveratrol is a potent antioxidant that may reduce free radical damage throughout the body & provide protection to the heart and the entire cardiovascular system, in part by lowering total cholesterol, and especially by lowering LDL cholesterol, the “Bad” cholesterol. Resveratrol also reduces platelet aggregation, or the tendency toward blood clots, which of course would decrease the number and severity of heart attacks and strokes. Further, many researchers are coming to the conclusion that it is inflammation that leads to heart disease, and that reducing inflammation may very well be one of the prime mechanisms by which Resveratrol protects the heart. (See Part 2 for more discussion of inflammation.) An additional mechanism may be Resveratrol’s stimulation of a protein known as adiponectin, which has been associated with a lower risk of heart attack.

Resveratrol – Does it Really Work?

7 December 2009 | Comments Off

Who does not want to look and feel younger? Resveratrol is a component found in grapes which are used to make  Red wine. The 21st century has brought this theory into practicality with forcefulness. People are so much more aware of the techniques and methods offered by Mother Nature, which help achieve younger looking skin and healthier lifestyles. The advantage of consuming in the form of a tablet instead of wine is that it cuts out the alcohol and the refined sugar used to make wine. To be able to get the benefit of one table you will have to consume about one thousand five hundred glasses of wine.

Main stream science also hails Resveratrol as a compound that effectively restrains calories with out one having to actually restrict calories while partaking  in meals. This was tested on some lab mice. Some of them were giving this compound for intake while the others were not. The ones that were consuming resveratrol lived longer, looked healthier and showed resistance to diseases as compared to the ones that did not consume it. The mice that consumed resveratrol ate like gluttons and yet did not show signs of an enlarged lung or reduction in the heart’s performance or a dip in energy levels or sluggishness. The mice that were not given this compound to consume and yet were fed a similar diet fell ill or died early.

Resveratrol is consumed in 150mg tables which taste like grape losingers and are consumed in the liquid form. It is said to protect one against diabetes, liver damages, strokes, high cholesterol’s, hypertension, heart disease and Alzheimer’s (because it removes amyloid-beta which is responsible for this disease) even. It also fights aging by slowing it down or reversing it. Fat is burned due to the increase in the metabolic rate thus restricting brain degradation, aging and Colon cancer. It increases the flow of blood which leads to longer cell life. There was a reduction in the utilization of carbohydrate and an over all improvement in the well being of a person. This oral tablet is available only online.

When combined with ginkgo biloba extracts and green tea it is said to help improve energy levels and memory and prevent many diseases. This means the consumption leads to healthier lifestyles. It is tried and tested by many. There are some who swear by these oral tables. “Does it really work?”, you ask incredulously. Well, heck it does!

Trying to Find a Resveratrol From Grape Supplements?

7 December 2009 | Comments Off

Shopping for a resveratrol from grape supplements can be frustrating.  There are lots of different supplements on the market, but not many good ones.  Here’s a short review of some of the products that are available.

The Liquids
There are several liquid brands.  Typically, they are marketed as “red wine alternatives” or “resveratrol for the non-drinker”.  Research has shown that the levels of trans-resveratrol in the bloodstream do not rise significantly when drinking red wine.  The same would be true with a liquid resveratrol from grape supplements.

In fact, most researchers are now saying that the beneficial health effects of regular red wine consumption could not be due to the trans-resveratrol content, because the content is too low.  They believe, instead, that the beneficial effects are due to the combination of phytochemicals, as well as the alcohol, that is found in red wine.  Most healthcare professionals believe that moderate amounts of alcohol (1 or 2 drinks per day) are good for you, as long as you don’t have a drinking problem or other health problems.

The Powders
The reason that a liquid resveratrol from grape supplements would not raise the levels found in the blood is because digestive processes (stomach acids, enzymatic activity, etc) breaks the compound down before it gets to the upper intestine, where it can pass through and enter the blood.  Powders would be broken down in the same manner and would not increase bloodstream levels.

The Pills
Researchers have tested uncoated tablets and found the same results.  There is limited bio-availability of this compound.  The same is true of other nutrients, such as SAM-e.  When they hit the stomach, acid breaks them down and they never make it to a point where they can be effectively released into the bloodstream.  Basically, they are worthless.

Now, if a pill has a good enteric coating, then it will pass through the stomach with the nutrients intact.  When the pill reaches the upper intestine, it disintegrates, if the appropriate enzymes are included in the tablet.  The nutrients are released, they pass through the walls or the upper intestine and the body may begin to use them as needed.

If a resveratrol from grape supplements does not have an enteric coating and include the appropriate enzymes, it is worthless.

Your Best Choice
Your best choice for Colon Cleanse supplement is one that includes essential vitamins and minerals, in the most natural form.  The best value for the money is a product that contains a wide array of amino acids and antioxidants, packaged in an enteric coating to protect the nutrients from stomach acid.

You can reduce your frustration by researching effective supplements online, rather than trying to stand in a store and read all of those labels.  Most supplements do not work as they should, because the manufacturers do not use the best form of the nutrient or the method of delivery is ineffective.  You can shop with confidence for a resveratrol from grape supplement, as long as you know what to look for.  Hopefully, you now have the info that you need. Many Studies Show the Benefits of Resveratrol

7 December 2009 | Comments Off

Thousands of studies have been conducted concerning the benefits of resveratrol. The plant compound was first isolated and identified in 1940, during the evaluation of medicinal plants. It is present in the roots of Japanese knotweed and white hellebore, each of which has been used to treat a variety of health conditions by traditional practitioners.

Excitement concerning the polyphenol increased when it was learned that most red wines, some grape seeds and skins contain the compound. It was thought that this might explain what researchers refer to as the “French paradox”, which is a decreased incidence of cardiovascular disease among the French, despite a diet that is high in saturated fat.

That doesn’t mean that you can eat whatever you want, drink some red wine and never need to worry about your heart. Researchers have concluded that the benefits of resveratrol do not fully explain the French paradox. Other factors must be considered, as well. The serving sizes (which are small) and the number of calories consumed, for example, are big considerations, as well as the combination of foods that are commonly found in a typical French meal.

The resveratrol-content of red wines varies greatly. It might contain as little as .2 mg per liter. The highest content does not exceed 5.8 mg per liter. In the clinical and animal studies that have been conducted concerning cancer prevention and other health effects, the researchers used standardized supplements containing at least 20 mg per serving.

Some of the better weight loss supplements contain that amount, along with green tea extract, which is believed to explain the Japanese paradox, and a variety of other food extracts that are believed to explain the increased lifespan and reduced incidence of chronic diseases in different groups of people from around the world.

What I’m trying to say is that the benefits of resveratrol may be wonderful, but if you want to be as healthy as possible for as long as possible, you need an excellent multi-nutritional supplement that provides a good foundation for you to build on. A healthy lifestyle and diet complete the building.

People that start taking an excellent nutritional supplement notice an improved sense of well being, increased energy, clearer skin, stronger nails and healthier hair, as well as an improved ability to concentrate and sleep. No matter how good your diet is, if you want your body to operate at its optimal level, you need a supplement that provides optimum nutrition.

Here’s a look at some of the benefits of resveratrol, according to recent research:

• Interferes with cancer cell production, growth and progression of the disease
• Acts as an antioxidant
• Protects the cells from UV radiation
• May be beneficial in treating Huntington’s and Alzheimer’s
• Helps to maintain healthy blood sugar levels, at high doses

In the most recent studies, researchers concluded that the benefits of resveratrol are highest when it is combined with L-arginine. The best health supplements contain that amino acid, as well as a large number of other nutrients. That’s what I take, maybe you should, too.

The Abundant Resveratrol Health Benefits That You Ought to Utilize

7 December 2009 | Comments Off

Resveratrol is a substance found primarily on red grape skins, but can also be found on peanuts, blueberries, cranberries etc. Resveratrol was first discovered when attention was drawn to researchers that the French people have low heart disease rates compared to other countries. When studies were conducted, it was discovered that despite the fact that these people eat a lot of fatty foods, they wash it down with a glass or two of red wine. Studies indicated that it’s the resveratrol constituent found in the red wine that lowered heart disease  and anti aging rates as well as made the French live longer, weigh less, look younger and have minimal cancer cases.

It’s so sad that such a role of red wine has been disregarded for a very long time, especially when it bears such amazing health benefits. Resveratrol primarily functions in your body through its antioxidant properties, but it also acts as a blood thinning agent, thus releasing stress of your heart muscles. Resveratrol has also proven to play a vital role in the nervous system. The antioxidant properties of resveratrol enable your body to competently prevent itself from free radicals, which are a major cause of health complications in the human body.

Conversely, the consumption of over-processed chemical foods creates a lot of free radicals in the body, which can lead to tumor, cancer and other complications in the intestines and stomach. Positive response from resveratrol users show that taking a healthy diet rich in resveratrol, in whatever form enhances your chances of living longer and reduces your colon cancer disease vulnerability. While a glass of red wine contains resveratrol and can surely bring about a positive change in your life, you might want to maximize and increase your resveratrol intake. To have a highly concentrated intake of resveratrol, without the worries of becoming addicted to red wine, you ought to use resveratrol supplements.

Why You Don’t Need to Worry About the Best Food Sources For Resveratrol

7 December 2009 | Comments Off

The best food sources for resveratrol are not that great.  The compound is present in very low amounts in peanuts, berries, red grapes and red wine.  When self-proclaimed experts suggest that you can get all of the antioxidants that your body needs every day through diet alone, they cannot be talking about this one.

Within the cells of the human body, you will find a variety of different molecules and anti aging substances.  Some of them cause cellular aging and disease.  Some, like amyloids, are known to be present during disease, but it is not known if they causes or results of the disease.  To keep all of these molecules under control, there must be balance.

Antioxidants balance the activity of free radical molecules.  If free radicals get out of control, they damage the cell’s DNA and that eventually causes cancerous growths or the death of the cell.  It is not possible to get enough life extending antioxidants through diet alone, because our food is not as nutritious as it once was.

But, even if you tried to include the best food sources for resveratrol in your daily diet, you still would not get the antioxidant benefits.  In order to provide that benefit, it must be able to enter the blood stream.  As it passes through the digestive system, the molecule is changed by stomach acid to an inactive form and then the liver breaks it down into its component parts.

The only effective means to increase human blood serum levels of trans-resveratrol (the active form) is to take a supplement with an enteric coating.  The liquid, powder and veggie-cap supplements won’t work.

There are a variety of nutrients in the best food sources for resveratrol.  So, if you do decide that diet alone is the best choice for you, there is no reason not to include them.  Peanuts are good for your heart.  Red wine is too.  Grapes and berries contain other beneficial antioxidants.  But, if your only reason for eating those foods is to get the health benefits of trans-resveratrol, don’t bother.

Researchers have determined that the heart healthy benefits of red wine could not be due to the resveratrol-content.  They simply don’t know why it helps protect the heart, but they do know that the resveratrol-content is too low and the bio-availability of the compound is too low.  So, there are two things indicating that this is not “the” beneficial component of red wine.

Supplements do not usually contain the best food sources for resveratrol, but an extract from a medicinal root.  The root has a much higher content.  If you do decide that supplements are the way to go, look for one that contains a 50% trans-resveratrol extract and has an enteric coating.

You might also consider one that contains lots of other antioxidants from berries and plants, because of the different health benefits they provide.  Turmeric, for example, is an anti-amyloid, but it too must be protected from stomach acid.  Include the best food sources for resveratrol in your diet, if you like, but I recommend supplementation. If you have a minute to spare, please take a look at my website now.
